How’s fishing?
The fishing season starts up early summer with Chinook, and the Coho start running mid-late summer.  Please contact the Port for current activity.

Where can I go crabbing/fishing?
Off the Port of Siuslaw docks, in designated areas only. Parking fees may apply.

Where is the nearest Post Office or mailbox?
The Post Office is at the corner of 8th and Maple Streets, on the west side of Hwy 101. There is a mail drop box on Bay Street in front of Connie’s (just down from Mo’s).

At the entrance to the Campground at the corner of Harbor and First Streets, or on Bay Street right next to Mo’s.

Are you part of the City? The state? The County?
No. Ports are a separate and distinct local government.  The Port of Siuslaw is a member of Special Districts Association of Oregon.

Who’s in charge of the Port?
All policies are created by a 5 member elected Board of Commissioners.  The commissioners oversee the port manager, who oversees port staff.

When are Port meetings? Are they open to the public?
Port meetings are usually the third Wednesday of each month, at 7:00pm. They are open to the public.

Is there fresh fish available on the docks?
Local commercial fishing boats often sell their catch off their boat at the docks, depending on the fishing season. Please contact the Port for current availability.  Novelli’s Crab & Seafood is a floating fish market, operating during the summer months on the dock.  Contact Novelli’s at 541-639-7689.

How much does it cost to launch a boat?
There is no charge for our boat launch. Boat Launch Safety/Etiquette.

Where’s a good place to eat?
There are many good restaurants in Florence.  For options please check the Florence Area Chamber of Commerce.

Where can I park?
The Harbor Street parking lot, near the campground and the boat launch, has a $2 per day parking fee. Boat trailers are allowed in the Harbor Street lot. The Nopal Street parking lot offers free parking all day; no boat trailers allowed. There is no overnight parking in either lot (except for commercial fisherman, by permit only). If you are staying in the Port Campground, designated parking and overflow parking is available on site.

Where can I find a newspaper?
There is coin-operated daily paper (The Eugene Register-Guard) box in front of Mo’s Restaurant, and a coin-operated local twice-weekly (Wednesday and Saturday) paper, The Siuslaw News, in between the restrooms and laundry room.  The Siuslaw News is also available from the publisher at 148 Maple Street. Newspapers may also be purchased at the Bridgeport Market or Safeway.

Can I feed the seagulls?
No. It is against the law to feed the seagulls. Seagulls are wild animals. Florence City Code prohibits the feeding of wild animals. Seagull droppings land on people, cars and on the docks. Thus, they create health and safety hazards for everyone. Please do not feed the seagulls.

Can Port Property be rented for an event?
Yes. The Port offers picturesque sites on the property for various types of events to be held. These potential event sites boast open space along the river and are within walking distance of Old Town Florence. The Port requires insurance coverage for events held on Port property.
