Sturgeon Fishing On The Siuslaw River

Sturgeon fishing On the Siuslaw riverĀ is going on now. From the Port Of Siuslaw’s boat ramp head up river (East). Find a nice deep hole from 20ft to 40ft deep. Sturgeon are bottom feeders so keep your bait on the bottom. Depending on tides, most use anywhere from 8oz. to 1 1/2 pounds of weight to keep the bait on the bottom. Herring, Shad these types of baits are used mostly. There are new size restrictions on measuring sturgeon this year, that information can be found in the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife guide on page (101).
