The Port of Siuslaw announces there will be four Port Commissioner positions on the ballot for the May 21, 2013 Special District Election.

The 22,000 sf Old Town Wharf was built in 1966 and is in need of repairs to address safety concerns. Repairs include demolition of timber pile, pile caps, and stringers, along with installation of steel pile, girders and timber repairs.

Beginning January 7, '13 access to the campground and Port business office will be limited. The Downtown Improvement Project will be putting in new water meters, vaults and sewer lines at First and Harbor Streets. The project is expected to last 7 to 10 days.

Port of Siuslaw Manager, Robert Forsythe, announced the Wharf Improvement Project is progressing well and Legacy Contracting has completed all shore-based pile installation.

The work will include demolition and reconstruction of parts of the Old Town Wharf to address safety concerns; the wharf was originally constructed in 1966.
